Broken Borders
The single most critical issue to protecting our nation is the securing of our borders and our ports. Every day, tens of thousands of containers enter our country from other nations and they’re never inspected. At the same time, our government turns a blind eye to the thousands of people who illegally cross our borders. These scenarios exist because corporate America has convinced our leaders that this is one of the best ways to remain competitive.

A California state court has delivered a victory for critics of San Francisco’s sanctuary city policy. The ruling now forces local authorities in the city to notify federal immigration authorities when they arrest suspected illegal aliens on drug charges. Updated October 24th, 2008

Deadly Mexican drug violence is pouring over our southern border at an alarming rate. Immigration and Border authorities have escalated their efforts to keep Americans safe. But the ACLU is fighting those efforts and claiming the “government is turning vast swaths of the country into a Constitution-Free Zone.” Updated October 22nd, 2008
Dozens of pro-amnesty advocate groups are on hunger strikes and are holding protests and rallies to persuade people to support amnesty for illegal aliens. These ethnocentric special interest groups are also demanding an end to the enforcement of federal immigration laws. Updated October 21st, 2008
The U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to hear a case to determine whether illegal aliens who buy forged documents can be prosecuted for “aggravated identity theft.” The case centers on an illegal alien who claimed the false identification he was using actually belonged to someone else. There are new concerns that violent Mexican drug cartels are moving further and further into the United States. The latest incident involves the kidnapping of a 6-year-old boy in Las Vegas. He was released over the weekend, but authorities are still searching for his kidnappers. Updated September 24th, 2008
The survival of E-Verify rests in the hands of the Senate this week. The House has already voted to reauthorize the program for another five years, but now it’s being held up by partisan bickering in the Senate. The program—overwhelmingly considered one of the most effective ways to combat illegal immigration and irresponsible employer exploitation of illegals—will expire November 30 if Congress does not act swiftly. American workers scored a major victory in Arizona this week. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the get-tough employer sanctions law in the state. The law hits employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens with strict penalties and in some cases even strips businesses of their licenses. A lower court upheld the same law in February. Evidence continues to mount showing that Mexican drug cartels are operating within the United States. Attorney General Michael Mukasey announced the arrest of 175 Mexican cartel members in the U.S and Italy yesterday. Meanwhile, in Mexico, President Felipe Calderon is calling a series of explosions that killed eight people during an Independence Day celebration “terrorism,” and are attributed them to organized crime.
